Today a friend asked me to join him on part of his attempt to walk Unst’s shoreline full circle. We started from just north of Norwick beach. Along most imposing cliffs it took us nearly six hours to walk to Harroldswick and back to the car.
Very few birds unfortunately but some nice birds were spotted. And high upon the cliff with perfect view over a large stretch of ocean we also spotted a minke whale. Always a great sight to see the long arched back with the small dorcel fin at the end.
A flock of seven Sanderlings on Norwickbeach ignored us and came up very close. What a treat.
